Edgemoor Veterinary Practice – providing high quality veterinary care throughout Ryedale and beyond

Beth Skinner RVN

I was born and raised in Helmsley, many of my childhood memories are based at this practice, seeing my family help all the pets that came through our doors. I naturally wanted to follow in my family’s footsteps so journeyed to London for my veterinary nurse training, graduating in 2014. I spent my first couple of years working in Leeds but my love for the Helmsley area drew me back. I’m now very proud to be Head Nurse at Edgemoor.
Outside of work I spend my time looking after my elderly rabbit, called Humbug, going for walks with my parent’s dogs, Frankie and Rusty or cantering around the beautiful local countryside on horseback.

Anna Marsden RVN

I have lived in Pickering since the age of three.  I have always wanted to work with animals and did some work experience at Edgemoor for a animal care course and decided that vet nursing was what i’d like to do as a career.

I started coming to Edgemoor for my first animal care college placement in 2001 doing one day a week for 2 years.  I then joined the team in 2004 as a animal care assistant working alongside the nurses and reception staff.  then in 2006 I started my VN traing, going to Askham Bryan college one day a week and working here to complete my training.  I qualified in 2008 and have since breifly carried out Senior nursing roles to cover maternity leave.

I have one pet a yellow labrador called Noah, who I assisted into the world by c-section on boxing day 2012!!

Outside of work I like to going to music concerts (Olly Murs in particular!!) and spending time with Noah.

I am originally from Northumberland and was brought up in Bedlington (where the terriers come from!). Soon after I started my career as a travel agent I knew it wasn’t right for me. I took the decision to break free from office-life so I could train to become a veterinary nurse – and since starting at Edgemoor in October 2013 I haven’t looked back! I have a Border Terrier, called Maggie who ‘helps’ me look after our ducks at home. When I get some spare time, I like to socialise with friends and get them on to the dancefloor!

Paula Richardson RVN

I was born in Caterham in Surrey (a long time ago) and after seeing practice in a local vets at the age of 17 I knew this was the vocation for me. My first position as a vet nurse was in Rugby, Warwickshire but 30 years on I have found my home to be here in Helmsley, working alongside my lovely colleagues at Edgemoor. At home I have a small menagerie of pets that includes, 3 Labradors, a crossbreed terrier, a cat and 2 guinea pigs. When I’m not caring for my pets and family, I like to knit, sew or read.
